Thank you for sharing. Could you post sideway? Not as shorts.
Please play it a little slower.
First phrase you should use 2 3 4 (3rd string), 1 (2nd string)
2nd phrase you should use 3 4 (2nd string) , 1 1 (1st string)
Please play only melody without backing so we can hear more details on each note.
Go to Blue Monk related thread and learn proper fingering please.
Try not to look at the fretboard that much.
Good job! I really enjoyed your solo etude too!
In order to improve. Play it slow and play it simple as possible so no backing.
No reverb is better. Next step is go back a few steps so you can learn more details.
Tomo
Thank You for suggestions. I'll try and post here later.
You're very welcome! That video was great! You can practice it for a week or two weeks. Then you can post it just one guitar part without backing. That way we can hear more details.
Tomo
It was a tough task, I started practice with no reverb and metonome. I have Kemper with princeton profile and Yamaha monitors now. But I purchaised Fender champ 68 reissue and waiting for deliver.
I think I have to still practice "Blue Monk" , but this video will be grate reference point.
Nice work Bart! Enjoy your new amp.
Thank you for sharing your video. Good job playing Blue Monk melody, R 3 7 Swing Groove and Bb Solo Etude.
Please check each phrase duration especially last note. (Blue Monk) I think you need to listen my melody demo video from GW Additional videos.
Overall volume is not loud enough. Turn up more so it is difficutl to play so you need to slow down. R 3 7 Swing Groove... you should much slower and try to pick softer please.
Good job overall! Slow down and play it a little softer. Especially Blues Etude.. your picking volume is so full! You want to pick much softer. So slower tempo will help your techniques to settle.
Tomo
Thank You very much. Really apprciate Your opinion. Slower tempo than 40 seems to be exremly diffuclt. It was hard to play in 40 but I'll Try with 30.
Bart
You're very welcome! First no metronome is better! Slower is better! No hurry!
Try slow as you can without a metronome. About 50 to 65 per beat. Not 2 & 4 yet.
Tomo
I made this video for how to play slow & softly... R 3 7 Bb Blues Swing Groove & Blue Monk melody. No need to use a metronome until settle down. Hope this video is helpful about how to decide "Tempo"
Thank you.
Thank You, Your videos are really helpful. I made a video with melody only. 50 bpm and body motion.
My amp settings are here (click right button to second photo):

Great job! Glad to hear that my demo video was helpful. Slow and clear! Your thumb position a slighly too low. Picking position can be close to the front pickup for better tone. Your amp tone is very nice and bright.
Now you can fix a few places with super slow without a metronome.
0:14 (Harmonics)
0:16 (String Noise)
0:23 (Harmonics)
0:48 (Harmonics)
0:50 (String Noise)
Tomo
Hello, my another attempt. No moetronome, no reverb, only body motion. I hope it is better now.
Thank you for posting this video! Good job! I love this tempo very much!
Your timing is very good Repeated with rght timing. Much better!
Now you can use a little more dynamics. Play a litte softer over all.
Tomo
Thank You Tomo, since I've been practicing with GW I noticed some great things, for example my right position closer to neck pickup, guitar sounds better! Another thing tube amp with no reverb sounds amazing, so pure tone ! I am really loving it!
I am really thankful, becouse I've been playing guitar since 20 years and didn't know that yet.
Bart
My pleasure Bart! So great to hear that! Yes! Picking position is so important!
Tomo
So I have never heard this before and I watched the YouTube lesson from the other day.
Here’s my rendish…LOL, I don’t think it’s exact, I will work on it and I have to mute better and then work with metronome, but it’s a start.
Good job playing for Blue Monk.
You need to move your thumb position with other fingerings.
Please don't add any vibrato on end of notes.
One part was a wrong note.
It's always better to review the original example video. Please watch it a few times.
Tomo
Tried again, maybe this is better. No vibrato, working on thumb, and also muting.
Good job playing Blue Monk slowly!
Much better! Now you can fix your alternate picking.
1) Down beat is down picking.
2) Up beat is up picking.
Plesae Blues Monk GW Livestream for more details.
Keep working!
