Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

Day two finished. I focused in left hand touch again because I really grip to hard and I focused on finger noise. I don't know why to hold the pick lightly and half way out. Until now I had focused on exposing less of the pick and holding fairly tightly as I tried to learn faster alternate picking. What's the advantage of a softer grip on the pick?
(Forgive me because I think you explained this already) I enjoy trying different ways and didn't ask before since I think I'll understand if I just do it enough lol.

I want to do this badly but I'm on a business trip in Japan for 2 weeks, so I won't have my guitar with me for half of the 30d challenge. I almost want to buy a travel guitar now :(

In any case I will start catching up when I'm back home. Being part of the challenge or not, the effort will pay off :)

Focus today was about the sound. Kept the eyes closed just listening , other than to check the time at the end

Day 3 | Week 1
Today, I will focus on:
+ thumb position back of neck (move efficiently, horizontal motion)
+ moving my body with the notes

Today is the third day of practice!
I‘m trying to fix the bad thumb habit:move from sliding against the neck to gently lifting,And placed slightly below the center.
The second is to open the palm of left hand, At a stroke,I feel different than I did two days ago,You elbow starts to get hot.I Began to stretch,with some pain ,for a minute at most.Progress,I guess?

Thanks Tomo - after just 3 days, amazed how much it's impacting the rest of my practice. Playing each note clearly and with the same tone and sustain. And a reminder from my piano teacher MANY years ago, always trying to improve my posture.... working on everything in this lesson is great for me. Looking forward to the journey.

Day - 3 started with a stretch, my posture is reminding me to do it. Open focus is palm mute, pick slowly and listen to noise and sustain. Fender squire S-body today. :)

Day 3 thoughts:
• Try this exercise humming (singing?) the intervals right as you play them, or even slightly before. Helps to train the ear, too.

Today, I worked on relaxed left-hand pressure and made sure to sustain the fourth note before moving to the next one. I really focused on not shortening it.

It’s amazing—after only concentrating on these exercises for three days, I’m already seeing improvement in my other playing. I can’t wait to see my progress by the end of the month!

Day 3 , I’m noticing how tense my left hand usually is. I’m trying to apply this relaxed feel to my overall playing. Thank you Mr. Fujita.

Week 1:Day 3

I am starting to feel a meditative groove by moving very slowly, sustaining notes longer, and gently swaying somewhat. Rarely did I move while playing until today. I will take more practice until I do it without thinking about it.

Day 3 Complete!

I’m realizing that my palm muting abilities are non-existent so it something I really need to work with When I focus on it too much I find myself muting the D string so I’ll need to work on balance. I love Tomo’s subtle demonstration in the video with his left hand, so effortless…such precision and control.

Day3 Thumb position and continuing to hold fingers down after each note.
I think this will help reduce "fly away" finger tendencies, less movement, more efficient, love it!
