This morning I’m going slower… Only listening, not thinking ahead. That is difficult for me, but over the past year or so of daily applying what I learn and practice here on Guitar Wisdom, slowing down, absorbing the moment has truly helped me become a person who pauses and thinks about the moment rather than trying to predict where things are going - or where I want them to go. Writing this down is therapeutic.

During the long weekend coming up, I plan to review all the supplemental videos you’ve added to the threads here in the November challenge. Unbelievably useful stuff. Solid gold!

Day 21
Note to write in the notebook today:
Posture(straight).
No pressure to pick(soft).
Note sustain.
No noise.Palm muting(play—touch)very close to bottom string.
Elbow and body.
Less pressure.
Find something from video:
I can't control voice from picking. Sometime it touches deep, notes is loud, sometime pick is barely touched the string, sounds weak.
The palm will move away from where it‘s supposed to float.When process of “play and touch”,palm will slip away ,palm muting has failed.
When descending line, little finger will forgets to sustain last notes.
(reading these things before tomorrow working)
Sir ,I have questions about finger to touch the string.I don't know if the sustain of the note has anything to do with it. I always use my finger to touch the string with unfixed place, so I wanted to ask :If the fingers to touch the strings with the some place and angle, does it also make noise or stop the note to sustain?Thank you!

Day 21, slowly, mindfully and gently….watchwords of the day.

Week 3, day 21 (already!)
Notes:
• Descending: Minimize finger noise between index finger and middle finger by completely releasing ANY tension in index finger BEFORE middle finger comes off of fretboard. Total relaxation…hard to make habit of it, but when it works it is sooo satisfying.

Day 21 - relax to drop shoulder, sustain notes, grooving to the pace of groovy. Fellin' good!! Long breath, lite shoulder. *smiles* johno

Day 21 is done! Main focus was monitoring any tension arising in left hand and releasing it while noticing thumb floating along. Very slow descending. Max treble, bass near zero, no reverb. Clean.

Day 21 Complete!

Still driving too fast backing up the car! (I loved that analogy) I found a number of things falling apart as a result. I would lose my thumb being centered, my palm mute became faulty and those pesky last frets - pick stroke and timing off. Slowed down, breathed….”Don’t expect too fast”.

Did first round so slowly to listen to full note decay, then applied some time feel to remain runs.
Pick pressure, righthand pinky float and posture today. very chill : )

Just finished my belated w3 challenge. Sorry for commenting right after you published the stats, Mr. Tomo :)

Day 1:

Day 7:

In all of my recap comments, I always mention that I feel my hands have become lighter, and this week is no different: I once again feel my hands have become lighter. Recalling myself playing 3 weeks ago, it's a great surprise that I have never realized that I can actually play with so much less effort. That reminds me that I can never play barred chord progression for more than 1 minute before I have to painfully stop. Maybe I can work that out by the same principle?
I can also sense the stress I put into each finger more clearly, and that sense has further revealed that there is actually still excessive force that I can work on releasing. There is much more to dig here, but it's time to move on to the w4 topic. Looking forward to it :)

I must confess, I tried this exercise a couple months ago when I saw your video on YouTube I believe but I got bored with it and quickly abandoned it. However, now after the November challenge I have come to the realization that there are hidden treasures in you lessons and just like the unassuming simplicity in the November challenge revealed things in my playing that I wasn’t even aware of, I now view each of your lessons with a new, sharper lens knowing that deep within the lessons lie hidden gems waiting to be discovered and that consistent, dedicated practice of the lessons are where the key to unlocking the gold is. Once again, I can’t express how valuable the November challenge was in that not only was the lesson itself a wealth of information and playing introspection, but it has also opened my eyes to what your lessons and the site “Guitar Wisdom” really entails….patient, close attention and application of your lessons are where the deepest benefits to your lessons lie, you are truly imparting to us wisdom and not just guitar lessons. Thank you Mr Fujita, I think I’ll be giving myself a 30 day challenge with this alternate picking regime….excited to unlock what you have hidden in here.
