That seems like a logical place for an extra soundhole. Kurt, you've likely noticed how much more sound is pouring out of the soundhole on the top of the guitar, it makes sense to point some of that towards one's ears.

Nice work! I love Chromatic scale exercise very much.
First you can play it very very slow.

If you can, try to sustain each note all the way!
So there is no space between those notes.

Especially your 4th finger, 4th note... you want to sustain it much longer.
You can sustain a little bit longer.

Lower part of frets....slightly difficult to control chromatic scale...
so you can start at 5th fret. (your first finger is at the 5th fret)

Your muting on bottom strings are excellent!
Each note should sustain a longer note.

Great job, Richard! I look forward to how you do on the next phase of the challenge: descending. That is where I still struggle, keeping finger noise to a minimum while pulling fingers off of the strings.

Keep up the good work.

This is awesome, Richard! I like your idea of posting the "first" and "last" day of each week. Take as much time as you need (days), but stick with 10 minute chromatic scale practice. It is a lot of work for your fingers. Like exercise, you don't want to overdo it.

With that said, I look forward to your updates on this crucial and meditative practice! Please feel free to share any notes from the week, along with your video!

It is very difficult to do this!

1st finger ... slightly touching one string above.
Mute with right hand palm for muting lower strings.

Very important part is to sustain each note all the way.
So there is no gap between those notes.

I still love working on chromatic scale because it's not easy!

Richard, the relaxation part is a must. Not just being in a state of relaxation, but trying to see if there is tension anywhere in your hands. I used to really crank down on the poor strings, but thru the chromatic exercise learned that you can get away with a ridiculously light touch.

Using light touch is my style. This way I can get similar tone with any guitars.
