Buddy Guy 89! Simply amazing! Lovely guy too!
Tomo
he seems like a genuinely good person in the documentary Tomo, I am happy to hear it's true.
the doc has Mayer, Santana, Gary Clark Jr, Christone Kingfish Ingram, and Buddy Guy (of course :)) all talking about his music and his life.
the transition from picking cotton with his family as a boy in the deep south to blues guitarist that inspired the stones, jimmy and everyone else is really miraculous. how he stayed a decent human being exposed to it all is deeply inspiring to me.
also amazing to me is that he was told to abstain from "his sound" by folks like chess records. when he finally got a chance to play as he wished, he just kept going. truly awesome. what a life.
I have seen Buddy Guy in concert many times, he has such amazing connections with his audience. He loves to stroll out into the crowd and let random people strum his guitar while he frets the notes. Priceless.
I love that you saw him so many times Linda! I want to go to his blues club now, before he's gone! He seems like a super generous player, and super down-to-earth.
I often think its too late for me to catch up to yours and Kurt's live show experiences, also super pricey these days.
But, we usually make it out to a few shows a year. I feel like this season is going to be amazing. We're in the middle of something now, much bigger than the 60's on up. The effect these times will have on music, will be profound, in my humble opinion.
