Hey Jazz listeners. I just wanted to start a thread about what jazz you’re into currently. It could be an old Jazz icon youve kept following, a favorite album, a new up and coming artist , anything in between. Would be great to share our knowledge about jazz. albums, songs or new artists that move you. Now let’s grab some coffee and talk Jazz… seriously though thanks for your help!
Hey Jeffrey, great thread. Just wondering, do you have a Spotify account? I have a playlist I can share with you if you do.
Hi Jeffrey,
Mostly due to influence from my partner who is a huge jazz fan, I love Chet Baker, Miles Davis (Kind of Blue-probably one of my most favourite jazz album of all time), John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone (does lots of genres), Django Reinhardt, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald. As you can see mostly older jazz but that is what my spouse is into and I've acquired some of the same tastes.
Cool Michael thanks a lot. Will check out Chet baker another one I’ve never sat down and listened to. I have listened to Django before and found out later on he could only play using his pointer and middle finger the others got burned. So he had to make his own new technique. I thought what the , how does he do that? Goes to show if you put your mind to it can do what many consider not possible
Chet Baker is so mellow and melancholy. Right up my alley :)
Also, if you have a chance read up on his life, very tragic.
Here's a nice one to get you started:
Hi Jeffrey!
You came across my thoughts as I was checking out this show called Jazz After Dark. It's been on for years and the show is quite eclectic in its song selections. I don't listen often but am a bit more and more. You might like it. Check it out!
