What a great thread! How have I missed this? Such great suggestions….I love Al Di Meola, Bill Evans, Vince Guaraldi, anything Pat Martino, Keith Jarrett, so many others. But my flat-out favorite (not only jazz recording but possibly my favorite piece of music of all time) is a tune from Wynton Marsalis’ album “The Magic Hour” called Sophie Rose-Rosalee. It may have been initially released under the name “Waltz” but now seems to show up with the ‘Sophie’ title. Talk about listening to a tune many, many times…I have easily listened to this tune 100+ times over the years. I’m sure more. I still feel the same way when I hear it today as when I first heard it 20 years ago. I am listening to it now. Clean melody, masterful brush work, perfectly delivered. Simply sublime.
Thanks for reading.
